I’m a curious person with a lot of different interests and I’ve been lucky enough to pursue a lot of those interests in my thirty-something years.

Together with my wife, Brooke Barker, I recently co-wrote Let’s Be Weird Together, a book that celebrates the weirdness that ensues when two people start a relationship. To promote the book, we created a variety show of sorts and toured it to independent bookstores across the nation in early 2020. We even made a few of the bestseller lists.

As an advertising copywriter I’ve worked (and freelanced) for agencies including Wieden+Kennedy, Swift and Sockeye. With those agencies, I’ve created work for big brands (Instagram, adidas, Nestle, Twitter), small brands (Sartori Cheese, pFriem Beer, Wordstock Book Festival) and many others in between.

I’ve always been passionate about experiential storytelling. I’ve created traveling theme parks, built a vending machine that dispensed live theater and produced an interactive game show that travels by bicycle. I’m also an active member of the Themed Entertainment Association.

In the film/TV world, I’ve directed documentaries about endangered insects, hosted a regular segment for Dutch television, produced animated web series and hosted many talk shows. For six years I hosted and produced the Pedal Powered Talk Show, a show built into a bicycle. We produced the show in diverse locations across the country – from Mount Rushmore to the top of Seattle’s Space Needle to a raft in the middle of white water rapids.

For a number of years, I also worked in entertainment journalism where I had the chance to interview a wide range of notable folks including George Clooney, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Scarlett Johansson and even Grover from Sesame Street.

Additionally, I curate a small kazoo museum in South Carolina, co-host a podcast about sandwiches and I’m a former Guinness World Record Holder for high-fiving.
